Renovation Day 13

It's day 13 already and today we are doing another side of the false ceiling in the Living room.

Every evening I question myself why did I do that? I could have gone without one. 😖🙈

It is a real battle of wits to get all this done by staying in the same house. You see how work is done and you can see how much workers are slacking and it affects you emotionally as well.

When you are not there and not seeing things, going about your day normally then you are in a good emotional state to let go of things.

On top of that, if you have parents with you and they also question how things are going on, the whole thing gets on your nerves and makes you pull out your already falling hair.

This is the house I am living in nowadays.😩😵

Home Renovation Project during Pandemic!

My Apartment was a complete mess. We neither could store our stuff properly nor live comfortably. We were having frequent arguments. We started exploring our options, either to buy a new apartment or rent a big place. However, after seeing a few options we disregarded both the options and decided to renovate the existing place.

After reaching this decision, the quest started on how to do it? We started talking to our friends and neighbors for references. Within our society, few people were also renovating their homes, so we checked with them.

When we took this decision we didn't know much. We just had the desire that someone fix our place nicely within our budget. Fixing the place means that this place meets our functional requirements and looks good too. This could become a place where we enjoy our day and can do our work comfortably respecting each other's personal boundaries.

This whole exercise made me realise how many things we accumulate over a period of time. Are they really necessary? Most of our arguments were around the stuff organization. Unknowingly we accumulate so much over the period of time that house seems for things not for people. Lockdown is the reason that we stayed together in a house for so long. I'll keep posting my journey through this project. This whole ordeal making me realized lots of things about myself and the way we have been living our life. Stay Tuned!

Korean odyssey: One of my first foray into K-Drama

This is one of the earliest drama which I got hooked on.

We all love fantasy, intrigue, and romance with a little dose of humor.

It has all that and more.

Recently I read one book and it talked about how our thoughts affect our life.

Surprisingly what I read, this drama depicts that in a visual sense.

It's fun to share the principle with kids showing some clips from this drama.

I would recommend watching this. Another reason to get hooked on K-dramas,

to again believe the ancient stories of Good vs Evil, positive values,

and power of thoughts.

On top of that the most important lesson of life that

"It shall pass no matter how hard it is now if you just hold up a little."

Things are never black and white. Good can be bad or vice versa.

Don't judge, just take them as it is in the moment. There is always a grey patch in between.

A little peek into the very first episode of this drama: Korean Odyssey.

Don't remember when it all started.

I really don't know how and when I started watching Korean serials. No matter when and how but now I am hooked. Initially started watching on the Rakuten website, then moved to the app and now Netflix has so many of them.

When started to watch the first serial, the male actors didn't look good enough, the female characters seemed to be too docile. I lost interest. Later maybe I was too bored and came back to that serial again.

As I keep watching, I liked the stories which completed after 16 or 20 episodes.

Actors who were not appealing initially grows on you as the character develops with the story. It was refreshing from our local serials where the story never ends.

I like them so much that I want to let all of you know about these wonderful modes of entertainment. Watching them is an interesting change, in fact, a very positive one. I want to share the reviews and list of the serials according to mood from my perspective for all of you to pick up the good ones to start. Now after watching so many of them, I picked up the language as well.

See you later! (Daame bayo - Korean)

Look out for different Domains!

At this time of recession people are trying out various different things. In last few days during my interactions with various people,I found couple working in the IT domain are now looking out the alternate careers in entirely different domains. Like I met one IT professional(Female) who is doing a Fashion designing course with her job. I was amazed to hear this. but the point is people are opting for such kind of options to mitigate the risks being husband and wife both working in the same profession.

These kind of courses adds an entirely new dimension to their personalities. Initially they opt this to pursue as a hobby but if one finds its lucrative enough then you can take the opportunity to start your own business also. People finding it initially to beat the stress level. These kind of activities are working as an alternate career options and fun too.

Fashion design Course at Hamstech!

Welcome to the reality of fashion design courses provided by Hamstech. The vision of Hamstech is "Realising Possibilities" however it should be "Realising Realities". There are various courses conducted by Hamstech to cater the needs of various types of students. Hamstech is well publicised institute which has impressive names on the board but there is no contribution from these name. Only neeta lulla can be seen once in a while in the institue along with the attitude that "You are good for nothing."

There are 3 types of fashion design courses:
  • 1-year course(SBTT certificate/Hamstech Diploma).
  • 2-year course(SNDT diploma).
  • 3-year bachelor degree course.
Hamstech runnning these courses since quite sometime now. There is no co-ordination between their administrative staff and faculties. No one knows nothing there. Initially when you go to join 1-year course, there efficient staff will counsel you that there is no difference between 1-year and 3-year course , 1 year course is just fast track course and you need to work harder. They will sell you that if you are a bright student, there is no limit to your leaning curve but during the course if you ask something from your faculty, they simply state that its not in your syllabus. Fun part is you won't find your syllabus for the whole year. When you ask for one , Its like some bizaar secret, no one knows about that, not even admin staff, no faculty, no one. They will tell you that highlighted subjects in the prospectus is your syllabus, like one subject is "Clothing construction" but what will they cover in that its a big mystery.
After joining the course nothing happens for first 3 months and credit goes to that "Calantha Fashion show" and you can participate in "Calantha" after 1 year finishing your course(1-year course students only) and all the expenses in the fashion show bear by the students only, and there is a compulsion that you buy the fabric from "Neeta Lulla referred person only from Mumbai" and cherry on the cake is Fashion show happens at Marriot or some 5-star hotel but garments sale happens to take place after a long time in Hamstech institute. Bad fabric quality and high stitching cost(Hamstech reffered tailor ofcourse) raise the ready garment cost so no sale .

Even they don't have permanent faculties. They hire the people who are looking for extra bucks temporarily (have foreign degree to flaunt) but leave you halfway in lurch. For basic computer subjects they have permanent faculty(though its a fashion design institute) and they teach you notepad and paint initially. Its a big joke, they still teach notepad and paint as a design development tool.

In their words its a college but you can't get a book issued. One can read the books there only. Its fortunate enough that nobody goes there because if students decide to read the books there, it would be a great challenge to find a space to even stand in that room. Only 4-5 chairs can fit into that room. In that so called college, they collect the fees in first 6 months only and during this fee collection time they would be still polite and pretend to answer your queries but later on everyone is so rude including the faculties. Initially when nothing happens for 3 months students also run away. In class of 30 students only 14-15 students remain after 3-4 months.

After doing a 1-year course, if a tailor hires you, would be a miracle. Students who have relatives and friends in designing should go for this course but the skills they teach can be learnt from the aunty in your building during summer camps in less time and money.

So In my next post I would like to share the 1-year Fashion design course syallabus. Its like Revealing a BIG SECRET;) wait for that.....
